The Edmonton Oilers have traded F Jesse Puljujarvi to the Carolina Hurricanes, per Pierre LeBrun. Going back to Edmonton is fellow Finn, Patrik Puistola who was a 2019 3rd round pick for the Hurricanes.

The Oilers are not retaining any of Puljujarvi's $3 million cap-hit, per Chris Johnston.

This is a huge trade for Carolina. Puljujarvi now reunites with Sebastian Aho; the pair dominated the 2016 World Juniors - along with Columbus Blue Jackets F Patrik Laine - in pursuit of a gold medal.

Aho and Puljujarvi combined for 31 points in 7 games for Team Finland.

Meanwhile, the Oilers free up $3 million in salary cap space, which ought to grant some flexibility in facilitating a trade for D Jakob Chychrun or another piece ahead of the trade deadline.
