The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Wednesday morning that Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Tony DeAngelo will have a hearing for spearing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Corey Perry.
The incident happened late in the third period, as after a whistle, a scrum ensued in front of Tampa Bay's net. As the scrum was starting, DeAngelo skates in and jabs Perry in the genital area with his stick before being jumped by the other four Lightning players on the ice, including Patrick Maroon.
DeAngelo was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.
