After close to 40 years with Hockey Night in Canada, it seemed host Ron MacLean was being shown the door. Rumours, which seemed to originate with a story by Howard Berger, said MacLean was being let go in a major shakeup that would like include Kevin Bieksa.

Straight from the Horse's Mouth
MacLean had his own say on his apparent departure today while attending the Smilezone Foundation's annual golf tournament, where he told the audience he's already confirmed for the 2023-24 season.

Stock Falling
Despite his lengthy career with Hockey Night in Canada, MacLean's stock with the national audience seems to be dropping a lot the last few years. Some never forgave him for the perceived slight on Don Cherry when MacLean refused to defend his long-time friend and co-host over comments that got him fired.

Others just seem to feel the 63-year-old has run his course as the host of Canada's top hockey program. Whatever the case, it seem those that want him gone are going to have to suffer through him for at least one more year.
