Initial concerns about Sebastian Aho's signing in Carolina causing troubles for the Maple Leafs have been dismissed with new information.
Nylander's Contract: A Possible Decrease?
The eight-year, $78-million deal inked by Sebastian Aho this morning was believed to establish a pricing standard for William Nylander, who has surpassed Aho's offensive performance and contributes similar value to his team. This led to speculation that Nylander's market value could approach an annual $10 million, a hefty sum for the Leafs. Recent information, however, suggests that Nylander's contract might be less than Aho's.
Reports are indicating that Sebastian Aho's contract (8x9.75M) will be the very maximum for William Nylander.
While Nylander has out-performed Aho offensively, it appears he will settle at a number lower than Aho.-
A Favorable Outcome for the Leafs
This new development is highly beneficial for Leafs management, who may be able to secure Nylander for the long term at a more palatable price.
