The Edmonton Oilers have signed a veteran forward to a contract.

Oilers Ink Erne

The Edmonton Oilers just announced that they have signed forward Adam Erne to a PTO.

The #Oilers have signed forward Adam Erne to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Erne played 61 games for the Red Wings last season posting 8 goals and 18 points in that period.

He has spent his seven-year career split with the Lightning and Red Wings, spending the last four years with the Red Wings.

While he is not the most flashy signing, he plays a style of game invaluable to any NHL team looking to win a cup. As a penalty killer and defensive specialist, Erne is able to help ensure the other team does not score.

He will now focus on earning a contract with the Oilers and if all goes well, eventually focus on winning his first career Stanley Cup.
