The Anaheim Ducks have claimed Ross Johnston on waivers from the New York Islanders.

Johnston Claimed: Looking for a Fresh Start in Anaheim

Lou Lamoriello's trend of giving depth players long-term deals was certainly the case for Johnston.

Entering the second year of his four-year, $4.4M deal, with an annual average value of $1.1M, he will be under contract in Anaheim until 2026.

The Ducks, after losing Lassi Thomson to waivers yesterday, will get a player through the wire anyways.

We will see if Johnston can help their young core grow.
