BREAKING: Brad Marchand's Fate Confirmed Following His Dirty Slewfoot on Timothy Liljegren

Brad Marchand has earned a reputation as being a pest in his long NHL career. While he has not crossed the line too many times (unless you count licking people crossing the line) he may have gotten away with one last game.

In his last game against the Maple Leafs, Marchand was involved in a controversial play that saw Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren leave the game early. Marchand appeared to trip Liljegren using a combination of his foot and stick, a move commonly referred to as the 'can opener.'

This is a dangerous play as players are often hurt when their mobility is limited by the opposing player, his stick, and the boards. In this case, Liljegren was unlucky and new appears to be out long-term.

Fans Immediately took to X to disclose their displeasure with the officials as there was no call on the play. Similarly, many fans were calling for further punishment, such as a fine or a suspension.

Fans will now be disappointed to know that Marchand will not be facing any additional disciplinary action. The deadline for the league to announce a hearing from the department of player safety was 5PM EST.
