Gary Bettman Blocks Player From Supporting an Amazing Cause

Whatever the NHL was hoping to accomplish with its ban on equipment showing support for certain causes, it seems the whole thing is backfiring and making the league look completely out of touch.

Last night, Logan Thompson was the backup goaltender for the Vegas Golden Knights as the team took on the San Jose Sharks. Thompson wanted to wear a cancer ribbon on his helmet as a show of support. He was told no.

I understand the NHL's intent when it decided to ban players from supporting any causes during warmups and games, but this just seems heartless and cold. The league really needs to revisit its policy before fans and players start to lash out. Blocking someone from wearing a cancer ribbon during a game is not a way to promote yourself and open and inclusive.
