Today it was announced that Olympian and professional hockey player Yannic Seidenberg has been suspended for 4 years for doping.
Seidenberg will now be unable to represent his country for the next four years. It remains unknown if he will face discipline from his club team or professional league.
With this ban coming from the German Court of Arbitration for Doping it stands to reason he would also be banned from German league competition. The 36-year-old is currently rostered with EHC Munchen in the DEL. However, he has not played a game for the team this season.
If this is indeed the end for Seidenberg he will have racked up 954 DEL games with 468 points. In the Olympics, he played 7 games and recorded 1 point. He had a bit more success at the World Championships with 18 points in 63 games.
Seidenberg will now likely disappear from the German hockey scene and enjoy retirement after this latest suspension.
