The New Jersey Devils are as close as a team could be to cup contention, but there is one position still holding them back. It appears they're ready to fix it.

New Jersey Devils Linked to Three Starting Goalies in Hopes of Boosting Their Stanley Cup Chances

The Devils almost have it all: an elite star centre.. another elite star centre, several great wingers, a top-10 defenseman in the league, and a promising prospect pool. The one thing they don't have, however, is consistent goaltending.

It appears they are ready to address this need, despite Elliotte Friedman saying nothing was imminent last week:

«I'm really curious to see what they do in goal here, I think they've been looking around, I don't think there is anything imminent or anything, but I think they are calling teams to find out asking prices on certain goalies.»

Per NHL Trade Rumours, three goaltenders at at the top of their list - Stanley Cup champion Jake Allen, young star Carter Hart, and former 11th overall pick Yaroslav Askarov:

As put by NHL Trade Rumours:

"The New Jersey Devils are at a pivotal point in their season. Their pursuit of a reliable goaltender is not just about filling a position; it's about making a strategic move that could redefine their future. Whether it's Allen, Hart, or Asksrov, the decision they make could have a lasting impact on their trajectory in the league."

All of these goalies would be a massive upgrade for the Devils. It won't be cheap to upgrade, but the real question is if they can afford not to.
