Parise Reportedly Preparing for a Return to NHL This Season
According to the Athletic, Zach Parise is gearing up for his 19th season in the NHL, ramping up his conditioning for a potential return to the League. The question becomes, where will he return too?
Parise is currently a UFA, and despite the Islanders stated interest in his return, decided to stay home for the first part of the season to be with his family. Now, it appears he has the itch again, and will be looking at making a return.
Several Teams Interested in Parise Including the Islanders
The Islanders have continued to support Parise, publicly stating that there would be a spot open for him when he decides to come back to the NHL. However, it has been reported that several other potential contenders have shown interest in Parise, which will make for a difficult decision for the 39-year-old.
Parise has never won the Stanley Cup, and at 39, his opportunities to do so are running dry. While the Islanders are riding a hot streak back into playoff contention, Parise could, reasonably, want to sign with a team that has established itself as a contender in order to win his first Cup.
Parise has until the March trade deadline to sign a contract in order to be eligible to play in the playoffs.
