Marc-Andre Fleury recently opened up about his feelings regarding the Minnesota Wild's decision not to start him in what could be his final game in Pittsburgh.
Fleury Doesn't Get the Start in Potential Last Game in Pittsbught
While it hasn't been formally announced, Marc-Andre Fleury has been hinting about retirement after this season. If that is the case, last night's game in Pittsburgh would have been the last that Fleury appeared in front of the crowd that he was drafted to and spent the majority of his career playing for.
However, he didn't get the start in what could have been a farewell game. Wild Head Coach John Hynes said this was part of the plan all along.
However, Fleury did note that he was a little surprised and disappointed that he wouldn't get the start in Pittsburgh last night.
We Want Fleury Chant Breaks Out in Pittsburgh Last Night
Pittsburgh Fans weren't shy about chanting what they wanted, exploding into a "We Want Fleury" chant about midway through the first period. It's clear that Fleury still has a special place in the hearts of Penguins fans, as he should.
Ultimately, the Penguins ended up winning the game 4-3, so it looks like the move not to start Fleury didn't pay off anyway, unfortunately.
