As last night's game came to a close, the New York Islanders had a terrible showing of respect for their fans who made the trip to Nashville to watch them play.
Islanders Players Leave Game Early After Giving Up Goal in Dying Seconds
The New York Islanders lost a tight game last night against the Nashville Predators and gave up a goal in the dying seconds to lose the game. Then, they were able to score another empty-netter to add to their score, with just 0.5 seconds left on the clock.
The disrespect came when the Islanders decided to leave the bench before the game ended. After the Predators scored the final goal, all of the Islanders players made their way to the dressing room before the final horn had sounded.
Whoa, missed this last night. Don't know full context but optics here aren't great. Not a good look, tho kudos to Horvat for sticking it out.

Even though it was the last 0.5 seconds, this is clearly not great optics for the Islanders. Even if they thought the game was over before that final goal, they should have come back to the bench for the last 0.5 seconds as a sign of respect to their fans.
Predators Score To Win Game in Final Seconds
Despite the act of disrespect, the game itself was electric. The Nashville Predators were able to ignite the home crowd with an incredible last-second goal to win the game.

Clearly a disappointment for the Islanders, but this is no excuse to show disrespect to fans who pay money to watch them play.
Do you think it was disrespectful to leave the bench early?
