New York Islanders top prospect Ruslan Iskhakov abandons the NHL

This afternoon reports are confirming that top prospect for the New York Islanders Ruslan Iskhakov will be leaving the organization. He will be joining a new team in his home country of Russia.

Tonight sad news for New York Islanders fans has come about Hockey News Hub has announced that Ruslan Iskhakov will be heading home to Russia to play for CSKA Moskva.

This is frustrating and surprising news for the Islanders as Ruslan Iskhakov had been one of the team's better players in the NHL. However after a production drop off from 51 to 45 points this season the 23-year-old will now pursue a different opportunity to play professional hockey.

Now the New York Islanders will have to do some work in the offseason to re-fill the hole that Ruslan Iskhakov's departure leaves in the prospect pool.
