Coyotes reporter confirms exactly when team will announce relocation
The Arizona Coyotes relocation is all but confirmed at this point, and now we may know exactly when it becomes official.
This past week, a bombshell was dropped on the NHL as it was revealed that the Arizona Coyotes were likely to be relocated, with more reports emerging that the move to Salt Lake City could happen ahead of the 2024-25 season. Now, Insider John Gambadoro has revealed that it will become official much sooner than anybody could have expected.
I continue to hear April 18th as the day Gary Bettman will make the announcement on the Coyotes being sold to Ryan Smith and the team moving to Salt Lake City. All indications are this is the only option, and all the wheels are in motion for the purchase and transfer of assets.
With the Coyotes still looking to win their land auction, it appears as though owner Alex Meruelo is looking to bring the team back as an expansion team in the coming years, but for now, Salt Lake City is one step closer to becoming official.
