William Nylander's worrying injury confirmed by Elliotte Friedman

William Nylander has now missed the first three games of the Toronto Maple Leafs' series against the Boston Bruins with an injury. While head coach Sheldon Keefe and general manager Brad Treliving have been tight-lipped on his injury, insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed what is ailing him.

William Nylander, who signed an eight-year, $92-million extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs last off-season, has arguably been the team's most dependable core-four star, overshadowing the inconsistency of Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and most prominently Mitch Marner.

Losing him to an injury in game #82 of the season, Toronto Maple Leafs fans hoped he'd make a speedy return. Down 2-1 to the Boston Bruins in their first-round series, his return is more crucial than ever.

Unfortunately, per Elliotte Friedman, that may not be coming too soon due to a mysterious and concerning head injury:

We will see if the Toronto Maple Leafs' doctors can figure out what's wrong with William Nylander. If they can't, a return to the playoffs may not be necessary, as the off-season may start within the next few days.
