NHL officially brings back tradition from the original-six era
The NHL officially brought back a tradition from the original-six era last night in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers.
Right after the Oilers and Panthers players jumped on the ice for the start of the Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL held a proper ceremony before proceeding to the singing of the national anthems. They announced players on the starting line before bringing the Stanley Cup onto the ice, something that hadn't been done since the 1960s.

Additional details from Chris Johnston came in later and pointed out that in 2020, the Stanley Cup was in the stands during the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals:
The Stanley Cup Finals always bring the best out of players, and seeing the trophy they've always dreamed of winning surely helps them focus for the game.
