Max Pacioretty's future in the NHL confirmed by Washington Capitals GM
Max Pacioretty has had a roller coaster NHL career, being the captain of the Montreal Canadiens, part of the Vegas Golden Knights, and now moving around the league.
After suffering two debilitating leg injuries as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes, Max Pacioretty played last season with the Washington Capitals. Per Washington Capitals GM Brian MacLennan, Max Pacioretty will not be returning to the US Capital, and will be moving to yet another team this off-season.
In a press conference yesterday, MacLennan confirmed that the Washington Capitals' two UFA's, Max Pacioretty, as well as Stanley Cup champion Nicolas Aube-Kubel, will not be returning.
The Washington Capitals will head into the July 1 deadline for re-signing scheduled unrestricted free agents with neither Max Pacioretty nor Nicolas Aube-Kubel signed to extensions.
Pacioretty and Aube-Kubel are the lone UFAs on the team's NHL roster. Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan admitted during his pre-draft media availability on Thursday that he has no plans to retain either winger before the deadline or when they hit the open market.
