Jack Campbell bought out by the Edmonton Oilers

After two poor seasons with Edmonton, Jack Campbell is finally done after the team officially bought him out ahead of free agency.

Two years ago in free agency, the Edmonton Oilers believed they had landed their star goaltender of the future when they signed Jack Campbell away from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare as Campbell would struggled to a 3.61 GAA and an .886 save percentage over 41 games with the team.

After Stuart Skinner took over the starting role, the writing was on the wall for Campbell, and now, the team have officially placed him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buy out.

At 32-years of age, it's unclear where Campbell's future lies, but if he can find a place in the NHL without the pressure of a Canadian market, there's still plenty of time for him to turn his career around and make an impact. With free agency approaching, the need for backups is out there, so keep an eye on where Campbell heads in the coming days.
