Despite joining the NHL way back in 1991, the San Jose Sharks didn't move into the SAP Center until 1993, but over the past 31 years, the teams have played their home games at the arena. Now, in a shocking new revelation, it appears as though momentum is gaining on them potentially leaving the SAP and San Jose, although they may not be going far.
The report from Insider Sheng Peng has revealed that the SAP Center agreement is very unfavourable towards the organization, and while they may leave San Jose, the agreement stipulates that they can't go far, and would look at places such as San Francisco and Oakland.
While the team have struggled in recent years, there's no doubting the connection that the Sharks have made to this city over the past three decades, so to see them depart would be bittersweet. However, if the agreement is so unfavourable, it makes sense that they may be looking to get out of it, and with the Golden State Warriors moving to a new home in San Francisco, perhaps the potential is there for them to find a new home.
