After being fired from his GM position with the Philadelphia Flyers, a new team in the NHL has hired Chuck Fletcher as their senior adviser.

The Philadelphia Flyers have had little recent success making it into the Stanly Cup playoffs. Much of this has been attributed to the team's failed former GM and President of Hockey Operations, Chuck Fletcher. Following a series of bad decisions and one shot at the big prize in the postseason during his multi-year tenure, the team was forced to relieve Fletcher from his duties.

"The Philadelphia Flyers have fired GM and President of Hockey Operations Chuck Fletcher, the team announced Friday.

Fletcher was in his fifth year leading the Flyers, with the team making the playoffs just once in his tenure."

Though Fletcher has been widely recognized as a failed staff personnel in the NHL, he is getting another shot behind the scenes with a different team. The New Jersey Devils have officially signed the former GM as their senior advisor.

"Devils hire former Flyers GM Fletcher as senior adviser"

This is part of a larger staff change for New Jersey, which is working desperately to compile the right team for Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald. Alongside Fletcher, Andy Greene will return as another advisor, while Manny Leagce will serve as an amateur goaltending scout and development coach.

Manny Legace also joins the team as amateur goaltending scout and development coach."

Though it seems clear he will not get another shot at a GM position, Devils fans are broadly upset about the decision to hire him as the team's senior advisor. Provided his stint with the Flyers, there is little reason to wonder why.

Though this is not the outcome Devils fans would like, his position with the team has much less decision-making power, making it less likely that he will cause the same level of damage he did in Philadelphia. Hopefully, he has taken his time away from the league to learn from his mistakes. Otherwise, it could be another failed offseason in New Jersey.
