Patrik Laine has had a turbulent summer to this point. He first was in the NHL's Player Assistance Program. Then he requested a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets and was sent to the Montreal Canadiens.
Then after being traded Patrik Laine has once again faced hardship over the past couple of days after the passing of his Columbus Blue Jackets teammate and friend Johnny Gaudreau. The Laine family and Johnny Gaudreau had partnered in the past in an effort to raise money for mental health care in Columbus.
He also posted on Instagram a short but heartfelt goodbye to his former teammate.
With all of this on his mind, Patrik Laine got the opportunity to get away from all of the mental struggle and pain for a moment. He arrived in Montreal today for the first time and was able to see his name on the back of a Montreal Canadiens jersey.
This afternoon a new video has surfaced on X posted by the Montreal Canadiens. In the video new Canadiens forward Patrik Laine can be seen putting on his #92 Montreal Canadiens jersey for the first time.
In the video Patrik Laine can be seen sliding on the Montreal Canadiens jersey. He then took a moment to take a selfie in the jersey with the Canadiens locker room logo in the background. He could be seen smiling and having a good time in his new home.
The Montreal Canadiens will be hoping for a bounceback from Patrik Laine this upcoming season. A once 40-goal 70-point player that was a difference maker Patrik Laine had struggled the past couple of seasons. Now he has an opportunity to come back better than ever and help the Montreal Canadiens make their way back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
