The NHL and the NHLPA are set to negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement after the 2025-26 season, and multiple issues are expected to be discussed.
In the past, such negotiations led to lockouts, in 2004-05 and 2012-13, something everyone wants to avoid repeating.
According to Bill Daly, while some issues will be debated, he doesn't see the same contentiousness as when lockouts occurred.
He discussed the situation in an interview on The Athletic during the recent NHL Players Media Tour in Las Vegas.
Here's what he said:
It's simple: both the league and players want what's best for them, and when it comes to their own interests, things can get heated real fast in the negotiation room.
Fans sure hope that the negotiations will go smoothly and that nothing will come in the way of the 2026-27 season happening.
