Captain Sidney Crosby took a massive discount to stay with the Pittsburgh Penguins on a new extension.
In breaking news, Sidney Crosby finally signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Crosby, 35, made it clear that he wanted to get a deal done with the Pens before the 2024-25 NHL season, and he stayed true to his word.
Indeed, the Penguins organization announced that Crosby agreed on a two-year extension valued at $8.7M per year.
The president and general manager of the team Kyle Dubas released the following statement, confirming the news:
"There are no words to properly describe what Sidney Crosby means to the game of hockey, the city of Pittsburgh and the Penguins organization. After a 94-point season, many people believed Crosby would get more than $8.7M, including Elliotte Friedman, who stated that the captain could get something around $10M:
