Jonathan Marchessault makes heartbreaking family announcement at Quebec Remparts jersey retirement

The new Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault made a heartbreaking family announcement at his Quebec Remparts jersey retirement ceremony.

Marchessault had a spectacular junior career in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts. The 5'9" forward scored 239 points across 254 games between 2007 and 2011. He truly deserved to have his jersey retired by the organization.

Right before the ceremony, Marchessault revealed in an interview that his mother, Lesly Marchessault, had passed away 24 hours prior to the ceremony.

Losing a parent is one of the toughest experiences in life, and we can only admire Marchessault and his family for going through the ceremony.

This puts a dark twist on his first year with theNashville Predators, only weeks before the start of the season.
