Wednesday morning didn't get off on the right foot for Ottawa Senators forward Claude Giroux. According to his wife, Ryanne Giroux, Claude's car was reportedly stolen on Tuesday night in Ottawa. Ryanne shared the unfortunate news on her personal social media in hopes that someone within the community of Ottawa who might have gone through or witnessed a similar scenario could offer advice or help track it down.
In a humorous but frustrated response, Claude appeared to confirm the incident in a reply to his wife's post with a face-palming emoji. The latter post eventually went viral, and the Ottawa Police Service eventually replied to Ryanne's message 37 minutes after it went live, finally signaling their awareness of the situation after the Giroux's had been unable to get a hold of anyone for help, and their willingness to assist in it.
This incident comes when Giroux is getting ready for his third season with the Ottawa Senators. Before the 2022-23 season, the veteran forward inked a three-year deal worth $19.5 million with the club, with the expectation of being in Ottawa's lineup. Despite the off-ice issues, on the ice, Giroux has continued to be one of the more consistent players. He played all 82 regular-season games last season and had quite a good tally of 21 goals with 43 assists, showing what the player brings into the lineup.
At 34 years young, Giroux's roots in Ottawa run deep. Prior to turning pro, he spent his junior hockey years in the capital region with the Cumberland Grads and Gatineau Olympiques from 2004-2008. This stolen car incident is a sad setback, but Giroux's eyes are on his career and furthering the Senators' success. Hopefully, his car will be recovered soon so that he can move past this inconvenience and focus on the new season.
