The much-anticipated docuseries titled, "Faceoff: Inside the NHL," released yesterday on prime video. The first episode featured William Nylander of the Leafs and David Pastrnak of the Bruins as the two teams famously met each other in the playoffs once again last season. One moment that garnered a ton of attention came from the bench as Mitch Marner appeared to lose his temper. Both William Nylander and Auston Matthews told him to cut it out in not so uncertain terms as his hissy fit was a bad look for the entire team. This was caught on camera during the game, but the documentary gave us more insight into this incident thanks to the fact that Nylander was wearing a microphone for the game.
As the episode revolved around Nylander and Pastrnak, the two players got to share their thoughts on the series. Pasta noted how it is always fun for his Bruins to play against the Leafs in the first round but Nylander had a different perspective. In fact, the Leafs superstar called out his own team in his reply to Pastrnak, noting how the Bruins always win when they play each other. Since Nylander and Pastrnak have joined their respective teams, the Bruins and Leafs have faced each other three times in the playoffs, all in the first round. All three series were won by Boston in seven games.
Many Leafs fans were actually glad to see Nylander make this comment. It shows that he cares and is sick and tired of losing. Not getting out of the first round is bad enough, but losing to their rivals over and over again only makes things worse. Nylander pointing that out is something that any leader on a team should point out and it should light a fire under the Leafs when playoff season comes around again.
Will the Leafs finally go on a deep playoff run this season? Will they encounter the Bruins and get their revenge? Stick around this season to find out, and be sure to go to prime video to see the rest of the docuseries for yourself.
