Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube called a timeout last night despite the fact that his team was leading in the game. Here's what was said

When Craig Berube was hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs as their new head coach, the team knew what they were getting. Berube is someone who holds everyone accountable, no matter what the outcome is on the scoreboard. That was on full display last night as the Maple Leafs took on the LA Kings.

With the LA Kings losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night by a score of 5-1 in the third period, a goal by Alex Turcotte made it 5-2. Even though he was still winning by a good margin, Craig Berube decided he did not like what he was seeing out of his team on the ice. He called a timeout and talked to them. Here's what was said.

"Let's go to work. Gain the offensive zone and go to f--king work. Let's wake the f--k up!"

The Toronto Maple Leafs went on to win the game 6-2, with a lot of thanks going to the new second line of Max Domi, Bobby McMann, and William Nylander.

Craig Berube is the kind of coach that will keep players honest, even if it means taking some heat himself. Berube laid down the law quickly at the Maple Leafs' training camp, banning music during bag skates and line rushes. That was something that was allowed by former head coach Sheldon Keefe. Berube is very no frills in his style of leadership, but it works. Expect a lot more of these motivational speeches during timeouts as his tenure with the Maple Leafs continues.
