Edmonton Oilers Darnell Nurse drops the gloves and faces off against Predators Michael McCarron
Tonight the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators game has hit a new intensity level as Darnell Nurse and Michael McCarron decided to drop the gloves.
The Edmonton Oilers have struggled to find their game early in the season. After several games where veteran forwards like Connor McDavid and Corey Perry have talked about needing higher intensity one player seems to have found it. McDavid in particular called out his team earlier this week. This has also led to a lot of frustration within the fanbase who feels like the team is reverting back to the terrible struggles they had to begin last season. Even the Edmonton Oilers coaching staff has made changes to the lineup for tonight trying to change the momentum.
After going down 1-0 in the first period it seemed like it was going to be much of the same from the Edmonton Oilers. However, defenseman Darnell Nurse decided to take matters into his own hands and challenged Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron to a fight.
In the fight both players were hesitant at first eventually Nurse would take over and dominate the fight taking down McCarron. After being taken down by Darnell Nurse it looks like Michael McCarron does try to get in a couple of extra shots on the Oilers defenseman. Both players would be sent to the penalty box but the momentum would officially swing in the direction of the Edmonton Oilers. Just minutes later Brett Kulak would score for the Oilers and tie the game up.
Now with the game into the second period the Edmonton Oilers are still tied and looking to bring the momentum from the fight into the rest of the game. They will also need their slumping stars to step up if they want to win this game.
