Last night, in the game between the St. Louis Blues and the Toronto Maple Leafs, hockey fans had to watch Broberg leave the game after a scary incident with Mitch Marner.
If you missed it, here's how it happened:
This comes at an unfortunate timing, as Broberg, 23, was playing the best hockey of his career. With nine points, including two goals in 12 games this year with the Blues, he established personal records, notably beating his previous career-high tally of eight points in 46 games with the Oilers back in the 2022-23 season. Only months after joining the Blues on an offer sheet, the defenseman currently ranks second among the Blues scorers, one point under Jordan Kyrou, and one point over Colton Parayko.
According to a new report, the Blues can prepare to lose Broberg for a long time.
Dr. Harjas Grewal, who often shares his takes on NHL injuries, revealed what can be expected for Broberg's recovery in a post on X.
He stated that Broberg tore his MCL, ACL, and/or Meniscus, which could lead to a recovery period between two weeks and five months (or more). However, he added that it didn't look as severe, leaving him to believe it could be an isolated grade 1 or 2 MCL injury. If that's the case, the recovery period would be closer to two or three weeks for a grade 1, and four to six weeks for a grade 2.
In his own words:
St. Louis Blues fans are eager to see the defenseman back in the lineup. Hopefully, the team will be able to maintain the rhythm while he's away, and with his help, after his recovery, continue to push for a playoff spot.
