Patrick Roy and Lou Lamoriello haven't exactly been on the same page in New York, and Roy's latest comments suggest even more of a rift with frustrations expressed over the Islanders current roster.

This current New York Islanders team has come under plenty of scrutiny for their lack of elite level young stars, with the team struggling to put together a team that anyone sees as a Stanley Cup threat.

However, one person that continues to double down on the veteran talent is GM Lou Lamoriello, with his reluctancy to push for a rebuild the main reason why this team is stuck in the middle.

That frustration may now be reaching a boiling point, as Head Coach Patrick Roy recently made a comment that has raised the eyebrows of many fans around the league.

«I love these guys. They work hard. They push. This is the team Lou gave me, and I'm going to work extremely hard for these guys.»

The immediate reaction to this one from fans was shock at the shot that Roy took at Lamoriello in this instance, with insider David Pagnotta reacting to the comment as well.

For quite some time, there has been speculation over tension between Roy and Lamoriello, and with the Islanders struggling this season at 8-10-5, with the offense ranking in the bottom-five in the league, it's easy to see why Roy is frustrated with the way things are going.

With a win-now mentality for a roster that's not build for it, it appears as though this could all be leading towards Lamoriello making a change behind the bench, but with few draft picks and no elite level talent coming through the organization, it's going to be a tough few years on Long Island.
