A big surprise emerged in New York a few days ago, when after a 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, Elliotte Friedman revealed the organization could part ways with two of their biggest leaders: Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba.
In Trouba's case, it isn't very surprising, as we knew the Rangers had looked into trading him in the offseason.
However, Kreider, who'll have two seasons left on his cap-friendly $6,500,000 AAV contract after this year, hasn't often come up in trade discussions in his career.
Unfortunately, the 33-year-old veteran has been struggling this season, scoring only nine points in 19 games so far.
The team has many trade assets, and big goals this season. General manager Chris Drury knows that he must help his players win by making moves.
Apparently, the Rangers have been showing a lot of interest in the Vancouver Canucks' forward J.T. Miller.
Indeed, Arthur Staple and Peter Baugh of The Athletic revealed that the Rangers inquired about Miller, who's still on a leave of absence from the Canucks.
This isn't the first time the Rangers go after Miller. In fact, they drafted him 15th overall in 2011, and were after him before the 2021-22 trade deadline, before he signed a seven-year extension in Vancouver.
In Staple and Baugh's words:
As they also mention later in their report, Miller has a no-move clause, and we don't know if he'd be willing to lift it to return to New York.
This season, the 31-year-old veteran scored 16 points in 17 games, and fans are eager to see when he'll be back on the Canucks' lineup.
