Earlier this month the New York Rangers were surrounded by drama after trading their captain Jacob Trouba.
Since this trade, there has been a lot of eyes on the New York Rangers and their front office including GM Chris Drury and head coach Peter Laviolette to see how they would handle the fallout.
Things seemed to be getting back to normal overall with the Rangers continuing their season and staying out of the news cycle.
This afternoon the New York Rangers took on the Los Angeles Kings and were utterly dominated losing 5-1 despite tying the Kings in shots.
The embarrassing loss for the New York Rangers who now sit outside of a Stanley Cup Playoff spot led to a lot of frustration from players and coaches during the post-game press conference.
During the post-game interviews, the Rangers seemed like a team divided and without answers on how to turn around their season.
It began with Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren speaking to the media and talking about a lack of effort and ability to win 50/50 battles.
Then veteran forward Vincent Trocheck subtly called out himself and his teammates for not giving full effort and giving up on plays.
Finally, Laviolette was asked about his players' lack of compete and focus during the game and overall throughout the season so far.
Laviolette seemed to lack answers regarding what had gone wrong and how to get it fixed.
Whatever is wrong with the New York Rangers it is clear that they need to snap out of it and find a way to turn things around quickly or what once was a clear Stanley Cup favorite team won't even be a Stanley Cup Playoff qualifier.
