Head coach Martin St-Louis spoke with the media regarding netminder Cayden Primeau, and it got a little awkward.
After the game, during the press conference, it started off innocently enough. L'Actualite sports journalist Simon-Olivier Lorange asked if the organization still had confidence in Cayden Primeau's abilities to win hockey games.
It seemed as though Martin St-Louis didn't like the question and didn't really like Simon-Olivier Lorange either.
Since the press conference, unfortunately, Lorange has been facing an outburst of hate on social media.
There is nothing new in that exchange between the journalist and St-Louis, as things usually are pretty tense.
It's clear that this dynamic now is beginning to weigh in on press conferences and is a dynamic that can blow up at a more significant scale if left unchecked. Either way, Lorange was only doing his job, and the question was warranted.
Poor timing, perhaps, but in any case, it is a question many people are thinking about: does the organization of the Canadiens still believe in Cayden Primeau?
This is something to keep an eye on going forward, particularly with what unfolded over the weekend.
Rarely will a team use the same goaltender in back-to-back games on back-to-back nights, but Samuel Montembeault started both affairs against the Detroit Red Wings over the weekend.
The Canadiens did come out flying on Saturday night, beating the Red Wings 5-1 at the Bell Centre, but the storyline in goaltending remains very much in focus.
