Macklin Celebrini is a rising star in the NHL, and now he's experienced an incredibly awkward moment as a Sportsnet reporter reveals the history of his parents, which definitely isn't what the 18-year old star was expecting.

Through 27 games of his NHL career thus far, Macklin Celebrini has already established himself as an absolute superstar, tallying 12 goals and 27 points during that time.

With that early success comes attention in the media, and after the team's 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, he was given an interview with Sportsnet, putting him right in the spotlight.

Unfortunately for the 18-year old, things got awkward quickly, as Scott Oake told the rookie the story of how Macklin's parents met at an infamous bar in Vancouver known as The Roxy, to which Celebrini was speechless.

Oake: Being from Vancouver I'm sure you've heard of The Roxy right?

So your parents, both star soccer players at UBC, you would logically think that they met on the campus of UBC right?

But I should tell you this, they met at The Roxy did you know that?

Celebrini: "I did not know that, I had no idea. I knew they met at some sort of bar but I didn't know it was The Roxy."

On paper, two adults meeting at a bar, no matter how infamous it may be isn't the most out of the ordinary thing, but when it was brought up Celebrini, it wasn't hard to see just how awkward it was.

It's unclear exactly why the reporter chose this time and place to bring this story up to Celebrini, but it's likely he thought it would make things entertaining, and while they're certainly in the headlines, it's a moment that both likely won't want to think about anytime soon.
