Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was recently suspended by the NHL, and now, the team have expressed their disappointment with the decision.

Over the weekend, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks did battle in a brutal Pacific Division showdown, and as a result of that game, both Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers have received three-game suspensions.

While the Canucks have taken it on the chin, the Edmonton Oilers don't appear too happy about it, as teammates Corey Perry and Leon Draisaitl have already aired their issues with the decision.

Now, the team have released a statement on the situation as well, noting that they are highly disappointed with the decision made by the NHL and the Department of Player Safety.

The Oilers organization is disappointed and we share in our fans frustration over the three-game suspension of our captain Connor McDavid. We support him through the process and the organization and our fans look forward to having him back in the lineup vs. Seattle next week.

This statement is a very strange one, as McDavid was struggling to legally deal with a battle against 5-foot-8 Conor Garland, and instead, took it to an illegal measure by cross-checking him right in the face.

Unsurprisingly, fans of opposing teams see the suspension as a very fair one, but since the ruling came out, Oilers fans, media and now the organization can't seem to come to grips with the punishment for making an illegal and dirty play on the ice in clear view of the officials.

Whether they like it or not, McDavid will be out of the lineup for the team's next three games, but after that he'll be back on the ice and back in his usual form, but for now, he has to face the consequences of his actions.
