Seth Jones' name has been in trade speculation all season long, and now the Blackhawks star has opened up on his desire to be moved at the deadline.

The Chicago Blackhawks were expecting to take small steps forward in 2024/25, but unfortunately for them that simply hasn't happened, as they enter the second half of the season as the second worst team in the entire NHL.

Instead of potentially being buyers at the deadline, this has led them to being sellers once again, with Seth Jones' name repeatedly coming up in trade conversations over the past few months.

Now, the veteran blue liner has opened up on that chatter, revealing in his latest interview that he is working with the team to facilitate a trade that could allow him to move to a team that has a chance to win a Stanley Cup.

"I would like to give myself a chance to win in my career. I know that the money is not an easy thing to move, and that's what we're figuring out."

Unsurprisingly, Jones mentions the money that he's currently earning, which is $9.5 million per season for the next five years beyond 2024/25, and it's clearly becoming an obstacle, as teams ready to call themselves contenders usually don't have that much money laying around for a defenseman.

With 26 points in 38 games this season, Jones has been fairly solid for a very poor Chicago team, and while neither side appears to be in a rush to make a trade happen, it would make sense if the Blackhawks can somehow clear that money (at least some, if not most of it), as it would allow them to continue their current rebuild.

Ultimately, it's in the interest of both parties if Jones were to be moved, but with many complications towards that goal, it's unclear if it will happen, but for now, the man himself has confirmed that they are working towards making something happen.
