A Montreal Canadiens fan became the center of a messy postgame story after video surfaced from Game 2, and the clip changed the way many fans saw the incident.

The original images spreading online showed a bloodied Habs supporter and quickly drew attention across social media Sunday night. But the reaction didn't stay on his side for long.

As more posts circulated, accusations followed. Several accounts claimed the fan was hurt only after he made contact with a woman from the opposing crowd.

That claim first looked shaky because there was no clear footage attached to the photos. Then a new video appeared, and it added real weight to the story.

The clip appears to show the opening moments of a heated exchange involving the Montreal fan and a female Carolina Hurricanes supporter. The angle doesn't answer every question, but it does show enough to raise serious concern.

At one point, the man appears to shove the woman during the confrontation. That moment is why the conversation online turned so fast.

Video adds context fans didn't have at first

According to the person who recorded the scene, the exchange started after Hurricanes fans were chanting «Ole! Ole! Ole!» in the aftermath of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.

The video recorder also said the Montreal fan reacted aggressively toward the group. That detail matters because it shifts the story from a still image to a sequence.

Two women were reportedly trying to pull the Canadiens fan away before things escalated further. Their effort, at least from what the clip suggests, didn't settle the situation.

That's the part that stands out most here. A postgame crowd scene turned ugly in seconds, and one short video now carries more weight than the first wave of photos ever did.

For Montreal fans, it's the kind of scene that drags attention away from the hockey itself. And once a clip like this hits the timeline, the story usually moves fast and sticks around.
