Dylan Larkin has expanded his trade list, and the Red Wings now have a new problem to think about: the Dallas Stars.

The update broke Thursday morning from Ansar Khan, who reported Larkin recently added Dallas to a list that once included just three teams.

Florida, Minnesota and Vegas were the only approved destinations before. Now it is four, and one of them is riding a five-game winning streak.

Detroit is doing the opposite. The Red Wings have dropped three straight and gone 2-6-2 over their last 10 games.

Larkin still finished with 67 points on 34 goals and 33 assists across 74 games this season. Production was never the issue here.

He carries an $8,700,000 cap hit, a number that complicates any deal Detroit tries to work out. General manager Steve Yzerman has stayed quiet on the report.

Detroit and Dallas split their two meetings this season. The Red Wings won in overtime at home in December, then lost in overtime on the road in March.

Stars could dangle Jason Robertson to sweeten a deal

Dallas has its own subplot brewing. Jason Robertson is reportedly available on the trade market, a name that would move the needle for almost anyone calling.

Robertson finished the season with 96 points on 45 goals and 51 assists over 82 games, carrying a $7,750,000 cap hit.

Trading a 26 year old producing at nearly a point a game would be a bad look for a team that just posted the third best record in the league. But summers get strange.

Pairing a Larkin trade request with a Robertson swap would be like trading your ace mid start. It rarely makes sense on paper, and yet teams do it anyway.

Would Detroit actually build a package around a rental-rich contender like Dallas, coached by Glen Gulutzan and sitting at 50-20-12? That is the part nobody has answered yet.

Larkin has not requested a trade publicly, and neither club has commented beyond the report. But four teams are now approved destinations, and that number rarely shrinks once it starts climbing.
