Patrick Kane's future is finally settled with a new monster contract

Patrick Kane is returning to the Chicago Blackhawks on a two-year contract worth $8 million annually, according to Elliotte Friedman.

The move landed Thursday morning, and it did not take long for the phrase every Chicago fan wanted to read.

"The circle is complete," Friedman wrote, breaking the news before confirming the financial terms minutes later.

Kane walks back into a rebuild that finished 29-39-14 this season, good for just 72 points and a 31st place ranking overall.

Chicago's goal differential sits at minus 62, the worst mark in the league, with a scoring rate of 2.6 goals a game.

Connor Bedard remains the face of that rebuild, and he just wrapped a brutal stretch. He put up 8 points over his last 10 games with zero goals and a minus-14 rating.

Kane's arrival gives Bedard a proven playmaker next to him, in a locker room that has spent years searching for consistency.
