Shane Wright is on Pittsburgh's radar, and Dan Muse would have a real use for that kind of young center right now.

The Penguins are reportedly showing real interest in Wright, with Josh Yohe reporting that 2 sources inside the organization confirmed the front office is intrigued by the Seattle Kraken center.
That tells you exactly where Kyle Dubas is looking. He is not chasing a depth patch. He is looking for a piece who could help Pittsburgh now and still matter once the current core finally gives way.

Wright is still only 22, and that matters more than anything else here. Pittsburgh's long-term need down the middle has been obvious for a while, especially with Sidney Crosby at 39 and Evgeni Malkin nearing 40.
The fit is easy to see. Wright was the 4th overall pick in 2022, and Yohe's read is that he still projects as a second-line or third-line NHL center even if the star ceiling has cooled.
That kind of player would give Muse another option behind Crosby and Malkin, while giving Dubas something this roster badly needs: a younger pivot with upside instead of another short-term fix.
