According to Josh Yohe of The Athletic, Wright makes all kinds of sense for Pittsburgh on paper.
But the asking price is substantial, in Yohe's words, and possibly more than the Penguins are actually willing to pay.
NHL Rumour Report shared that update Tuesday, and it frames this less as a rumor and more as a real cost-benefit question.

Wright is still just 22, coming off a season with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 74 games with Seattle.
Those numbers won't blow anybody away yet, but the pedigree behind them is the whole reason a rebuilding club would consider paying up.

Substantial, the word Yohe used, usually means high picks, a real prospect, or both, not a throw-in depth piece.
Pittsburgh has been aggressive in front office moves before, but aggressive and reckless aren't the same thing when a core is aging out its competitive window.
Fit on paper has never been the hard part of a trade. Paying the actual price Seattle is asking is where these conversations usually stall.
Nothing here suggests a deal is close, and Yohe's own framing leans toward skepticism that Pittsburgh gets there at all.
