Auston Matthews and Jim Hiller could soon have a new look in Toronto, and the Maple Leafs' latest jersey tease has already grabbed attention.
Toronto has dropped hints about its Hometown Remix jerseys throughout the summer, but there still hasn't been an official unveiling.
That left the door open for concept artists to work with the clues. One design shared by LeafsLatest, credited to Silly_Designing, offers a seriously intriguing possibility.
The concept keeps the familiar white base but gives the Leafs a much heavier blue presence through the shoulders, sleeves and striping.

And the centerpiece is impossible to miss: a huge blue Maple Leafs crest stretching across the front. It's bold, unmistakably Toronto and far less conservative than the standard sweater.
Nothing about this concept has been confirmed as the finished product. That distinction matters. But if the actual Hometown Remix lands anywhere near this design, Toronto may have something special coming.
Toronto could have a winner on its hands
The best part is that it doesn't look like somebody simply changed a stripe, moved a shoulder patch and called it a new jersey.
There's real personality here. The oversized crest gives the sweater an old-school hockey feel while the cleaner white-and-blue setup keeps it connected to the Leafs' identity.
Matthews wearing the captain's C on this design only makes the concept pop more. Put it under the lights at Scotiabank Arena and it's easy to picture this becoming an instant fan favorite.
Toronto doesn't need wild colours or an overdesigned alternate to make noise. Blue, white, the Maple Leaf and the right details can do plenty of work.
The timing helps, too. The Leafs enter a new season under Hiller, and a fresh jersey gives the club another visual marker for a different chapter.
For now, it remains a concept inspired by Toronto's teasers, not the official reveal. That might be the only disappointing part.
Because if this is close to what the Maple Leafs eventually unveil, they should have absolutely no problem selling them.
