Nikita Kucherov is the name being matched with every contender this Saturday, and the Lightning star now has five suggested landing spots.

The list comes from NHL_Muse: the Canadiens, Mammoth, Hurricanes, Capitals and Oilers. Two of those teams, Montreal and Edmonton, play tonight.

Start with what any buyer would be getting. Kucherov has 15 points through 12 games this season, built on 4 goals and 11 assists.

Over his NHL career he has 1138 points in 891 games, including 404 goals. He was drafted 58th overall in 2011 by Tampa Bay, and the production since has been anything but second-round.

The contract matters just as much to a suitor. His $9,500,000 cap hit runs through 2026-27, he is a UFA at expiry, and no extension has been signed.

That means a team is paying a premium for one season with no guarantee beyond it. Some GMs will love that. Others will walk.

The market was already tightening before this list started circulating, as Nikita Kucherov's shrinking trade market showed earlier today.

Carolina is the most interesting name and the least necessary one. The Hurricanes are 11-2-2, first in the NHL, with a +20 goal differential. Adding a $9.5 million winger to the league's best record is a luxury, not a fix.

Canadiens and Oilers are the real pressure points

Montreal is 8-3-2 and has won four straight, but its goal differential is only +5. A scoring winger of this caliber would address that number directly, and the Canadiens host Pittsburgh tonight.

Edmonton looks like the stronger fit on paper. The Oilers are 9-2-2 with 56 goals for, yet they've allowed 43, and they're at the Islanders tonight with a perfect 5-0-0 road record.

Utah sits at 9-5-0 with 51 goals for and 46 against. The Mammoth won 4-3 in overtime at Pittsburgh on Thursday, which tells you they're competitive but not comfortable.

Washington is on the list too, but nothing in the numbers here shows how the Capitals would fit, so that one stays unanswered.

NHL_Muse closed by asking which of the five destinations would make the most sense for Kucherov.

Tampa Bay's own position is spelled out in Nikita Kucherov's trade request and the Lightning in limbo. Carolina hosts Winnipeg on Sunday and Utah visits Philadelphia the same day, so the other suitors keep playing while the Lightning decide what comes next.
