In return, the Edmonton Oilers acquired , Jimmy Carson, Martin Gélinas, 1st round draft pick in 1989 (#18: Jason Miller), 1st round draft pick in 1991 (#20: Martin Rucinsky), 1st round draft pick in 1993 (#16: Nick Stajduhar) and future considerations.
