The Patrick Kane era in Chicago is officially over as according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, he's been traded to the New York Rangers.
In return, the Chicago Blackhawks will receive a 2023 conditional second-round pick, that can become a first-round pick, as well as a 2023 fourth-round pick. The trade is expected to become official after 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday and a third team will be involved to help retain a portion of Kane's salary.
ESPN's Emily Kaplan is reporting that the third team involved is the Arizona Coyotes. Kaplan also added that the condition on the draft pick is if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference Final, the second-rounder will become a first in 2024 or 2025.
Per GM Bill Armstrong, the Coyotes will get the New York Rangers' third-round pick in 2025 for brokering this deal. https://t.co/uXOmuYMMrp— Craig Morgan (@CraigSMorgan) February 28, 2023
