The Seattle Kraken and Nashville Predators faced off in what would turn out to be a blowout win for the Kraken, but it wasn't without a scary moment. an incident occurred that could have had serious consequences. Throughout the game, Brandon Tanev and Jeremy Lauzon had been engaged in conversation. However, when they came together again, referee Eric Furlatt fell while attempting to intervene and inadvertently took out Lauzon in the process. You can see the incident here:

Brandon Tanev and Jeremy Lauzon showing more love for each other, and referee Eric Furlatt gets Lauzon with the slew foot. Everybody's ok.

Although all three individuals emerged unscathed, the situation could have been disastrous, as Lauzon's skate narrowly missed injuring Tanev as he fell.

Furlatt's actions were most likely accidental, the incident raises concerns about players being taken out by referees while attempting to de-escalate a dispute. Losing an edge happens sometimes, but in this case it could've ended really badly.

Accidental or not, injuring a player while trying to intervene is not acceptable. Everyone is lucky to skate away unharmed.
