Cam Neely, President of the Bruins, made the following declaration when he was asked if Bergeron's number would be retired:

Wow! This is a fully deserved honor for Bergeron!
He created a lasting impact on the NHL and the city of Boston.
He'll be missed on the ice, but a part of him will always be in the rafters of the TD Garden.
