If you were to ask a Toronto Maple Leafs fan to describe the process of getting tickets to a game in Toronto the two things that usually come next are expensive and hard to find.
NHL Ticket Price Study
Recently the US Betting Report conducted a study using a tool called "Fan Cost Index" which measures the total cost for a family of four to go to a game.
Factored into this price are tickets, two small beers, four small soft drinks, four hot dogs, parking for one hour, two game programs, and two cheap adult-sized hats.
Study Results
The study shows that the top five for most expensive fan experience are the Toronto Maple Leafs ($697.75), Seattle Kraken ($672.89), Vegas Golden Knights ($649.72), New York Rangers ($645.42), Chicago Blackhawks ($573.76). Unsurprisingly the Toronto Maple Leafs are still the most expensive ticket in town.
What may surprise fans is that the Maple Leafs' tickets have only become 11% more expensive since 2012. In contrast, the Tampa Bay Lightning has increased 70% in the fan cost index model.

This shows that while Leafs tickets are astronomically expensive the mistake was made long ago and other teams are still catching up to them.
