When Wayne Gretzky speaks, the hockey world listens.
The best player of all time made a significant announcement yesterday, revealing his favorite player.
Gretzky Reveals His Favorite Player
While most people might answer the question of their favorite player with names like Crosby, Ovechkin, or McDavid, The Great One has a different opinion.
His favorite player is none other than the Islanders' Mathew Barzal.
"I'm truly amazed by what Mathew Barzal is doing; I've said it many times. I saw Messier, Lemieux, Lafleur, but this kid is special."

Barzal's Talent
Barzal is an incredible player.
He's had bad luck in his career, playing for a struggling team more often than he should have.
In 420 games with the Islanders, he has still managed to score 362 points.
However, his contribution goes far beyond just scoring. He's incredibly fast and talented.

Now, he has to reach the next level. If he wants to be a Hall-of-Famer, like Messier, Lemieux, or Lafleur, he'll need to perform in the playoffs and win a Stanley Cup.
This is how legends are made.
Do you think Barzal is underrated?
